I was super excited and quite nervous  as I had never taught a class on my own before! Last week the pupils had been introduced to Aboriginal dot painting and they really enjoyed the simple technique and created some AH-MAZING paintings. The Aboriginals mostly painted nature like animals as well as stories and legends to represent their religion and cultural identity.</p> <p><span>I decided to develop from last weeks theme and got the pupils to create some Aboriginal inspired animal fibre sculptures! </span><a href="http://www.nomadart.com.au/?p=5524" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nomadart.com.au/?p=5524" target="_blank">http://www.nomadart.com.au/?p=5524</a></a></p> <p><strong>You need:</strong></p> <p><strong>*Newspaper *Yarn *Masking tape *Beads (for eyes) *Plasticine *Garden twine *Pipe cleaners </strong></p> <p>Students were asked to choose an Australian animal and to begin scrunching up newspaper to create the body. The trick is to scrunch the newspaper at least 3/4 times so that it becomes easier to shape. Bits of newspaper were taped down with masking tape. Head and limbs were made and also taped down, pipe cleaners can be used for longer thinner body parts.
